Well, i picked up a new car last weekend, a 1965 beetle for 100 greenbacks(and a free rear overrider too!)
It didn't come with much basically just a roller with no interior or engine or glass, nothing i cant get my hands on. My plans for this beast are a full fendered slammed beetle, dropped in the back with a two inch tranny raise and a 5 inch narrowed adjustable beam (with shocks and sway bar) with stock 15x4 stock smoothies painted a crimson red and no hubcaps 145s up front and 165s out back. Chris, my friend josh, my dad, and me pulled the body off and started cleaning the frame up and found that it was rusted out on the front where the master cylinder is but Chris came through getting me some plate to fix all that, i have also started to add adjusters and narrow the front beam, its gonna retain the stock needle bearings (to save some cash), and I've figured out how I'm gonna do the tranny raise, but i think it may have some issues with the clutch and accelerator cables (let me know if anybody knows about that) I'm also going to have to run the shift rod exposed on the top of the tunnel, which i think its gonna look awesome. i will get picks up later

need some drop spindles and the front will be where i want it! now to tackle the rear, im having second thoughts about doing the tranny raise. It just seems like ALOT of work, i have to make the brackets and the box for the shifter and i have to make the seals around the body match up with the motor, i also have to make a "box" to seal the body and frame at the nosecone on the tranny, and then depending on how low it actually is in the back, i need longer spring plates for the toe in issue they have, and then after all that i have to make a custom exhaust to clear the apron, i want to but i might need help on it opinions?

you might say that, but i have a three month deadline here is what i did after work yesterday i put in some plate on the bottom where it had rusted out and cleaned/por-15ed it. i didnt do the whole thing b/c i still have to weld the pans and the front body support on

ripped a slot in the side of the tunnel that was rusted pretty good and patched it with a piece of a garage door slider frame(as seen on the top of the frame) and im gonna be getting a OG body support panel(where the master cylinder bolts) for free this weekend, then all i need is heater channels and i can start to make the side for the floor pans out of 1 1/2" square tubing and when i get the 4' by 8' piece of sheet metal from chris (16GA!) i can weld that in and some other misc. stuff then its clean-up and POR-15ing. Notice i cut the ebrake mount...... 2.5" tranny raise BITCHES!

Update: I got in my NEW heater channels, firewall, and lower door posts as well as a big 4' by 8' piece of 16 GA sheet metal for the floor pans and about 20 foot of 1 1/2" square tubing for the floor pan sides, ive also been working on the tranny raise of 2 1/2" and picked up some stock smoothies, ive had to throw the 3 month thing out of the window because of my lost of an income so it will get done when i can afford it i will post pics up tomorrow

im actually making some progress on it now that its not raining, ive cut out the firewall and the passenger side heater channel and sandblasted a shit ton of parts and por-15ed them, ive also started striping the body down with chemical strippers, ive done the dash and alot of the body. sorry no pics, ive lost my camera but when i find it i will post some.

My name is jerry and I'm on ga dubs. I have a 66 bug. Did you do your own beam. If so would you consider doing one for some one else?

It's balljoint, as far as I know it's the original beam. I have 2 1/2 drop spindles on it and they sit out 3/4 inch on each side. So I want to go 5 1/2 narrowed so it will sit in 4" from stock. I'm not going to run shocks so it will work.
