Generator to Alternator conversion. Its not a bad mod but there is a lot of tear down. I do not know if the alt works but oh well, I can still drive it short distances on a jump.
Update:
Alternator charging like a champ. Now I am trying to figure out what else is going to go bad so I can have a preemptive plan of attack. ;D

I took the radio out. I think I am going to revamp the Beetle soon. The conversion was more of a it is all I had. If I would have had a Generator I would have used it.

I am not sure yet. I really want a different suspension and bigger motor. Right now I am formulating a plan of attack. When I started the Beetle I was all over the place and bought a lot of stuff I did not use. I do not want to repeat that again. I move into my 2 car garage with some other room attached the 16th and I have to build my makeshift 4x4 1979 Rabbit first. Also I have to go get the Jetta I bought off Shu before the 23rd and get it legal because the 95 Jetta tags expire and I know it wont pass emissions(transmission is in limp mode). So yea you all probably wont see/hear from me till the beginning to mid of March with all the shit I have on my plate. Don't worry I will still be a phone call away. I am also planning a GTG in March at my new place. Monthly GTG maybe?

Got the 81 Jetta to the house finally(thanks Chris for being cool about me not getting it quicker). Soaked the electric fuel pump in gas for a day and it started spinning. A little flash fire took my goatee half off. Good thing it was not my eyebrows. The wife took my tools to work with her and I am a lazy ass so I did not go get them. She works like 7 mins from the house. Oh well got the weekend to get it back on and running.

Got the MK1 Jetta all back together. The fuel pump relay was not activating. I took the case off and there is a little arm that does the click sound. It switches the line to a hot. I flipped it a few times then jumped it with a battery and it started clicking. Put it back in place and got the car to fire up. It ran for a few seconds till I hit the gas and died. I am probably low on fuel so I got to go get more. The battery is pretty low so I have it on charge. The dieing on start up when hitting the gas is a common problem till its warm. I can't wait to get it on the road. Hopefully by Tuesday it will be tagged and insured.

I put $6 worth of gas in the Jetta a while back and never cranked it..it should have fuel unless you dumped a lot...

I did dump a lot out. It was pretty much varnish. I put some more in I can get it to crank and run for about 20 seconds but it will die if the gas pedal is touched. I have to figure it out. The Swine Flu MK3 Jetta I have wont pass emissions(cause the transmission is in limp mode) so I guess the wife will have to drive the Beetle till it is on the road.
